Press Release Tip 67
Don’t stuff keywords
Amateur press release writers often try to trick the search engines by stuffing keywords. They do this one of three ways:
- Stuffing a keyword phrase into the headline even though it sounds like it doesn’t belong there.
- Repeating a keyword or keyword phrase over and over again. This makes your release sound spammy and artificial.
Example: We sell custom cigar humidors. Our custom cigar humidors are handmade. If you’re thinking of buying a custom cigar humidor, please contact our custom cigar humidor specialists at firstname.lastname@example.org.
- Targeting too many keywords in a single release. This defeats the purpose of your release. Let’s say you want your press release to rank for 12 keywords. You’re so busy writing for the search engines that you can’t write an intelligent, compelling press release. Target one or two keywords or keyword phrases.
Opportunity #67 to write a press release: Real estate transaction
Real estate transactions are public record. But why wait for journalists to discover what you’ve bought or sold? Your press release can alert potential customers to your a new store or restaurant or let them know you’ve sold property and that you’re moving to a new location.
