Author gets tips for promoting SAT book for students

Jacqui Byrne of Fanwood, New Jersey gets great tips from Publicity Hounds on how to promote her SAT Vocabulary Express, a book of word puzzles to teach high school students to play with words, to take them apart, and to increase their vocabulary and, ultimately, their verbal SAT score.

From Carol Johnson of Schaumburg, Illinois:

“Consider posting sample puzzles on teacher math sites and mentioning it in teacher chat rooms. Give the book away to the first 100 people who sign up for their SAT tutoring classes in each city. Purchase Google clicks with a cap as low as they will allow. I have a friend who does well with a $2-per-day limit on 25-cent clicks. Hook the link to the SAT tests.

From Deborah Donaldson of Wauwatosa, Wisconsin:

“Look into magazine for Moms, or parenting magazines. Moms are the perfect naggers for getting those test scores up! (See item #3 above.)

From Leticia Acosta of Passaic, New Jersey:

“Contact the High School Parent/Teacher Associations, School Parent Liaisons and Parent Coordinators, and area superintendents and get yourself booked to do presentations and/or workshops at all the high schools including parochial schools. Particularly at the high school level, there is a need for quality “assemblies” where the kids and parents will get valuable information on how to ace the SATs.

“During the discussion part of your workshop, have your top 10 list available as a handout. Use each point and discuss further, opening you up to Q&A. Then use the Crosswords as an interactive activity for everyone, even the parents, to work on together.”
