Sharon Dotson of Bayou City PR in Houston, Texas wants to know how to get a client onto “The 700 Club,” a live TV program that airs weekdays from The Christian Broadcasting Network’s (CBN) broadcast facilities in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Hosted by Pat Robertson, the program focuses on Christian ministry.
From Sandy Dumont of Norfolk, Virginia:
If you are unable to find contacts for getting on “The 700 Club,” you may wish to contact the producer of “Living the Life,” a CBN talk show (primarily for a female audience) hosted by Terry Meeuwsen (former Miss America) and Louise Du Art, a talented comedienne and impressionist. I have appeared on this show three times, and here is what I assume are the criteria: have a topic or skill of interest to women, particularly Christian women, and be an expert in your field.
This show is normally aired on ABC’s Family Channel. The Executive Producer is Julie Jenney.
From Cheryl Beck of Ray Township, Michigan:
I recently discovered a Christian based press release service that specializes in working with Christian media. I think it would save you from having to look up many of the contacts yourself. I actually just applied to write for them as a freelancer.
From Liza Christian of Ashland, Oregon who has tips galore:
I record and watch this program daily and have a connection to some of the staff and previous guests. I’ve also been interviewed by The 700 Club staff.
Marketplace ministry is not only a “hot” topic right now, but a move of God. If Dotson’s client is not linked to Christian marketplace ministries, she should get involved immediately. A Google search will help if she is unfamiliar, but here are a couple ideas C-12 Group (primarily men, but this would be a good opportunity to start a group aimed at women. Contact the Chair in your state), CMBC , Os Hillman and Wagner Leadership Institute.
Read books by Buck Jacobs ("The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Christians"), Frank Damazio of City Bible Church and Ed Silvoso’s, “Anointed for Business.” A good web connect is Dan Miller, who has been a “700 Club” guest. These and other resources will create an excellent background for research, provide good quotes from credible sources, and stir the creative juices for a good approach.
