Joan, those are awesome tips! I would humbly add that the location of the event can play a big part in drawing your target audience.
For example, a recreational organization I worked with years ago held a fitness event adjacent to Chicago’s lakefront path in the middle of the summer. Everyone who drove by on Lake Shore Drive, putted by on a boat, skated, biked, etc. could see the performance. Nearby steps provided convenient seating. Of course, the emcee promoted the info table nearby. And, plenty of roped-off “white space” offered a safety zone between the performance and passers-by.
While I’m here, thank you for your weekly e-newsletter, “The Publicity Hound’s Tips of the Week.” I’ll be exploring your ideas about becoming a better-known expert writing consultant. Great job, Joan!
