The next time you’re trying to figure out how to do something on Facebook, and after an hour of struggling you feel like you’re the only one in the world who doesn’t “get it,” rest assured that you’re not alone.
Jonathan Lansner and Jeff Collins, who write a real estate column for the Orange County Register, list these 7 fixes for social media’s faults.
I was struck by how different most of the 7 “fixes” are. Complaints span the gamut from too many people calling themselves “social media experts” to social media vocabulary that confuses people.
I responded with a comment and explained my wish:
“I’d create one place online that would serve as the main directory for the more than 1 million social media sites.
“Each entry would have easy-to-understand directions on the purpose of the site and how to use it. And, of course, it would have up-to-the-minute updates.”
What’s your buggest frustration with social media, or the one thing you’d change? Comment here.

You’ve got a terrific idea, Joan, and I’d love to see it implemented … pronto! I agree with Jonathan and Jeff, especially on one particular point. I have a problem using the word, “friend”, when referring to online contacts. Let’s all do some brainstorming and come up with something far more appropriate. It just doesn’t seem sensible to call someone a friend when you’ve never even had the chance to shake the person’s hand or formerly greet them in any way.
