Blogger and PR pro Brian Solis has an interesting commentary about social media press releases and how they differ from the traditional press releases that litter the landscape.
Social media press release are written specifically for blogs, digital stories, RSS feeds, wikis and other social networks that generate conversation online.
Solis offers a tidy summary of the SMPRs and even offers a helpful four-page summary of how to write them. It’s available as a Word document or PDF.
His conclusion: social media press releases aren’t meant to replace traditional press releases, but complement them. Even so, he says, there’s a good chance that journalists will love them, too.
I echo many of his points in my free email tutorial “89 Ways to Write Powerful Press Releases.”
Joan, thank you so much for blogging about this.
