5 more things you didn’t know about me

I stumbled across an old blog post I wrote on 5 things you didn’t know about me.

But that was way back then. Here are five more recent things:

    1. I’m president of the Port Washington Garden Club in Port Washington, Wisconsin. One of my sisters is a Master Gardener. The other has a master’s degree in horticulture. I’m the black sheep, obviously, and the garden club suits me just fine, thank you.
    2. I walk an hour and a half every day.
    3. My favorite food is popcorn. I live in a town of only 10,000 people and have two popcorn shops within walking distance.
    4. I say “I love you” to my dog, Bogie, every day. You can see her here on my Facebook page.
    5. I still know all the words to the “Talent Roundup” song on The Mickey Mouse Club from the 1950s. Friday was Talent Roundup Day.

Now, tell me something I don’t know about you.

Loved your last newsletter, Joan. Everyone should sign up (see the form at right!). Just wanted you to know that I kiss my Great Dane on her big perky ears and my pug/bulldog mix on his wrinkly forehead. I love this idea for a fun, brief post. Yay, you!

Carolyn, your ezine is a winner, too, for authors and publishers who need to know how to market and sell books, and for resources galore! Authors, sign up in the box in the left margin at http://sharingwithwriters.blogspot.com/. Hugs to the great Great Dane!

Joan — I loved The Mickey Mouse Club! I so wanted to go to a summer camp like they attended.

    Very cute post.

Phyllis, I don’t know if this was a summer camp. It was just the show. But I know what you mean. I always wanted a pair of those white boots. So stylish for an 8-year-old!

      • Deborah Chaddock Brown

I didn’t have those boots, but I did get a pair of Nancy Sinatra’s white go-go boots! They gave me blisters and I still wore them proudly.

        • Joan Stewart

These boots are made for walkin’…and that’s just what they’ll do…one of these days these boots are gonna walk all over you…

    Hi Joan-
I’m a big fan of yours. (There’s one thing you didn’t know!) I recommend your site to all my clients.

I’m jealous your sister is a master gardener. I’m dying to have time to take the course myself.

One big thing few people know about me is I’m a certified Rescue Diver. Never had to save anyone thank goodness.

Thanks for the fun tip on this as a blog post idea.

    • Joan Stewart

My tail is wagging! Another fan! Thanks for stopping by, Winnie, and letting us know a little more about you..

  • Cathy Goodwin

What a great idea! My dog isn’t big on kissing; she’s made it clear that she tolerates me as her handler because I adopted her before Bill Gates showed up at the pound.

What most people don’t know about me is that I’ve been a fan of old-time country music for most of my adult life. I did live in Nashville as a child and teen, but began listening to C&W when I drove long distances and there wasn’t anything else on the radio.

    Gardening? There’s a good reason I’m a city person.

    • Joan Stewart

My favorite C&W song title is “Drop Kick Me, Jesus, Through the Goal Posts of LiFe.” Thanks for the update, Cathy.

  • Les P Cross

It’s great to get your emails, Joan. You offer some great tips!

One thing you won’t know about me is that I was once serenaded by the KGB brass band at an official reception in the Kremlin!

Is that a major claim to fame, or what! 🙂

    Les.

    • Joan Stewart

Les, that’s an amazing piece of trivia! See how much fun this is?

  • Catana Tully

    Great idea!
I talk to my dog who understands to “ignore” barky dogs. He walks by without even looking at them. He also understands that when he is off leash on our daily hikes in the wilderness he “ignores” bunnies because, unlike the ones on the street where we live, they do not become “statistics” by running into cars. Smart dog. He is a basenji and hears that he is loved many, many times a day.

    • Joan Stewart

My dog is ready to jump out the back window (it’s rolled up) when she sees a bunny. Your dog sounds like a dream come true!

  • Karen Cioffi

Thanks for the great tip on creating quick blog posts. I also revive old, old posts, as long as they’re still valid. 🙂 And, the Mickey Mouse clip brought back memories for me also.

My son-in-law is going back to college for gardening so he can start a gardening business on the side. It’s always good to keep learning.

    • Joan Stewart

I had forgotten about reviving old blog posts. I think I”ll use that one in the webinar, Karen. Appreciate the tip!

  • Flora Morris Brown

    Hi Joan,

I admire beautiful gardens, especially the edible ones. My thumb is brown and my patience is short with doing the prep and tending that gorgeous gardens require.

What you don’t know about me is that decades ago I auditioned at Motown in Los Angeles with my sisters and sister-in-law. We sang Smoky Robinson’s popular “Ooo Ooo Baby Baby.” When we finished, the producer urged us not to quit our day jobs.

    • Joan Stewart

Flora, I can see you and your sisters behind the microphone (think Diana Ross and The Supremes.)

Thanks for stopping by and sharing this fun fact.

    • Joan Stewart

Remember that one day was Circus Day and another was Guest Star day? I used to know them all. Great to hear from you, Jacqueline. It’s been a long time!

    • Joan Stewart

From one Aquarian to another, I love it, JJ! Great way to pull people over to Facebook.

  • Michelle Hutchinson

Always glad to learn new things about you, Joan, but I hope none of the information listed in this post answers security questions on any of your online financial accounts. 😉

    • Joan Stewart

That’s and excellent point, Michelle, and something I hadn’t thought of. No, I’m not giving away any important info. Thanks for the reminder!
