I’ve only been blogging for a few years, and I’m still learning.
For example, in this morning’s post about the 163 bloggers who David Meerman Scott thanked, I never listed the bloggers because I figured, if you were curious, you’d just go over to his blog and see the list.
Then as I was running errands a few hours later, it dawned on me. Cutting and pasting the list into my blog would let all those bloggers know that I linked to them, either because my blog will ping theirs, or they may have set up a Google Alert for their name. I set up a Google Alert for my own name, and learned this morning that my name appeared in a post about David’s public thank-you at John Koetsier’s bizhack blog.
I had never heard of John. But I know him now, and I spent some time at his blog. I even commented that David’s public thank-you was brilliant.
When some of the other bloggers on the list see a ping from my blog, they might visit here, look around, find something of interest, write about it, and link back here, thus giving me exposure to a bunch of their readers who never knew about me.
Also, it would give you a chance to check out some really cool blogs—including those written by publicists, PR people and marketing experts—that you might not have known about. So here’s the list:

You’re right. I was the first one to blog about it, and to tell David that his “viralish” “link list” has worked great.
What an excellent idea, one that is likely to generate some goodwill while raising the visibility of all 163 bloggers plus your blog too.
