I just hung up the phone after being part of tonight’s “virtual telesummit opening reception party” for the smARTist Tele-summit 2007, hosted by Ariane Goodwin.
And after hearing from all those great artists who joined me, I’m impressed!
Before I started my business more than a decade ago, I was an avid needlepointer. That’s about as close as I got to the world of art.
But I know publicity. That’s why host Ariane, shown here, invited me to join several of the other telesummit speakers on tonight’s preview call.
She’ll interview each of us about some aspect of how artists can market themselves during the teleseminars that will be held Jan. 18-19 and Jan. 22-26.
Each of us gave teaser information tonight and a few take-away tips for artists. Based on what I learned tonight, artists who want to take their businesses to the next level would be crazy not to sign up for the telesummit. It will include:
—How to thrive as an artist
—How artists can band together for health insurance
—How to get your work into museums
—How an amateurish website can make even the most beautiful artwork look like it was created by an amateur
—How to license your artwork
—Tips for selling your artwork on eBay while keeping the galleries happy
—9 things you must never say if you want to show your work in galleries
…and lots more.
When I’m Ariane’s guest during the January 22 teleseminar, I’ll be talking about how artists can generate publicity and why they should become experts in some aspect of art, then promote their expertise. I’ve already got a boatload of ideas and terrific examples to share from successful artists who are publicity machines.
If you missed tonight’s event, you can sign up anyway to get access to the free post-event recording online. You can also download a free gift, “61 smARTips.”
You can learn more about the January event here. Hope to see you at the telesummit!
