Sources needed for story on communication overload

A reporter at a top-tier national publication is exploring communication overload and is looking for people to interview, and smart Publicity Hounds will find ways to weave into the story information about their expertise.

Now that everyone has so many different ways to talk to you directly-multiple email accounts, texting, home, work and cell phones, Facebook messaging, instant messaging, Twitter direct messaging, etc.–are you finding it harder and harder to keep up with it all and actually communicate with people?

How do you manage all the different ways people are trying to reach you? Do you find important communications from friends, family or co-workers falling through the cracks?

Do you have pet peeves about the people in your life try to reach you now? For instance, does your friend try every phone number and email address she has for you when she wants to reach you? Do you have a preferred method to communicate, and how do you train the people your life to contact you this way?

Have you had to negotiate with your spouse or significant other (or even a friend) about how best to contact you? Did this work? Do you have strategies to try and manage all the talk coming at you?

If you have funny, interesting or instructive personal stories to share on this topic, please write ASAP to aceb5@aol.com and send details of your anecdote and contact information. You must be willing to use your name in print. Deadline is Friday at noon.
