How FotoJet Pitched Me and Got Publicity for Its Web App

When you launch a new product or service, reach out to bloggers whose audiences are a perfect fit.

This morning, I found a compact little pitch in my email, from Candy at PearlMountain Technology, the graphic software developer that created the FotoJet web app. You can use the free tool to make collages, photo cards, social media images and more from stock photos on the site, or your own.

I tried it immediately and started playing with templates for Facebook covers. Within just a few minutes, I created this new photo for The Publicity Hound’s Facebook page.

How to Pitch a Blogger

Hi Joan,

I’m Candy from PearlMountain Technology, a dedicated graphics software developer. I’m writing to invite you to do a review or write a piece of news for our newly-updated web app – FotoJet on your website. Your readers may be glad to know it.

FotoJet is a free online collage maker that enables users to quickly create amazing photo cards, collages and posters without the hassles of downloading or installing anything. It’s as easy as 1,2,3 to use it:

• Choose from 320+ templates for collage, photo card, poster and social media to get started.
• Add photos and freely customize the collage as you wish.
• Freely save collage as JPG/PNG or directly share it via Facebook.

I sincerely hope you will consider reviewing our FotoJet favorably. If you need any material, please feel free to contact me. Thank you very much in advance.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Best Regards,

She included all the relevant info and links, and she addressed me by name. But I have one quibble with this pitch. She asked me to review FotoJet “favorably.” Never ask for a favorable review. Instead, as for an “honest” review. I also would have liked some personal details in the pitch but it still worked without them.

I’m featuring FotoJet as the lead item in tomorrow’s email tips.  If you don’t get my twice-a-week snack-size tips, you can learn about the seven reasons you need to subscribe and the two valuable cheat sheets you’ll receive when you do.

Use Environmental Photos

Ashlee Bratton of Ashography photo studio took the photo of me you see above at the Author U Extrvaganza in May in Denver. I was one of the speakers, and Ashlee was there photographing anyone who wanted to buy the special package she was offering that day.

I had so few photos of me that I told her I wanted to concentrate on poses with me  that I can use at this blog, on my website, and on marketing materials. I’ll be writing about this photo shoot soon and showing you Ashlee’s amazing work.
