3 tips for rewriting your LinkedIn profile & headline

Here are three helpful tips about how to write, or rewrite, your profile on LinkedIn:     
  
1. Include keywords in the headline.

That’s the short message that shows up next to your photo—and it’s the first thing people read when they see your profile.  For better search engine optimization, use the same words that people would type into LinkedIn’s search box if they were looking for someone with your expertise.
  

 2. Your headline can be up to 120 characters, so try to use them all. 
  
Here’s an example of a headline that’s too short and includes no keywords whatsoever. You see these all the time on LinkedIn:

“Owner, (name of company)”
    
   
3. The headline should be a compelling marketing statement about your unique experience, something that sets you apart from your competitors.  Here’s mine:
